A man has been arrested in Kent on suspicion of murder.
The 29-year-old from Cardiff was arrested in Maidstone last night on suspicion of the murder of Malaciah Thomas.
Mr Thomas, 20, suffered multiple stab wounds and died at the scene at a house in Corporation Road, Cardiff, in the early hours of Monday morning.
Mr Thomas lived in Butetown with his mother and sister.
He was formally identified on Tuesday, and his family are being supported by police.
The investigation into his death is ongoing.
The Maidstone arrest is the second made during the inquiry.
It came after locals spotted a huge armed police presence in Hartnup Street on Wednesday night.
Bar manager Richard Bradford, 50, lives on neighbouring Western Road and was at the scene between 6.15pm and 7.30pm.
He said: "There were probably about nine armed officers wearing masks which I hadn't seen before and some of them were pointing guns up towards a block of flats.
"One was with a dog and was crouching down by the entrance to the flats, where I think there was another team of officers inside.
"They'd blocked off the road and were stopping everyone going into the building but it was all quite calm really - there was no shouting, people were still sat drinking on their balconies."
Another witness, who did not want to be named, said: "I was getting the house ready for a dinner guest when I heard the loud bark of a police dog outside.
"You can imagine my surprise when I saw armed police and three police cars and a man being arrested.
"I saw two armed police, one aiming their gun into one of the flats - they were clearing waiting for someone else who was inside.
"They were standing directly next to my car, the man behind saw me and waved his hand, gesturing for me to go back inside and stay away from the window.
"A young boy who lives on the road is always playing ball games, his ball rolled towards the police.
"The young boy went to go and get it, and the police stopped him - they shouted for him to stop and go back inside and the policeman said that he would retrieve it for him later.
"It was quite terrifying at the time for us all."
Armed officers were also spotted by witnesses in nearby Acorn Close.
A Kent Police spokesman confirmed the force first arrived in the area at around 5.45pm.
He added: "Kent Police officers attended a property in Hartnup Street during the evening of Wednesday July 25 as part of enquiries being carried out to assist another police force."
