A two vehicle collision has closed Bearsted's Ashford Road in both directions between the junction with Caring Lane and the Tesco garage, near Yeoman Lane.

The cars collided at 8.25 this morning and Kent Fire and Rescue attended the scene to extinguish a vehicle fire.

Police are still at the scene and the road is likely to be closed until the vehicles are recovered.

Paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service are also in attendance.

There are no reports of any casualties.
