Jack Green has vowed to ensure his trip to the World Junior Championships is just the start of a jet-set summer which will also include a connecting flight to Delhi.
Green (pictured) booked his place on the plane to Canada by blitzing the field in the 400m hurdles at the world trials in Bedford last month and taking gold in 51.54 seconds.
The 18-year-old from Snodland will land in Moncton as the seventh fastest junior in the world this year having clocked 50.86 and with strong claims of earning a medal.
Green’s time ran at the Bauhaus Junior Gala in Mannheim and good enough for first overall put him fourth on the all-time British under-20 rankings. And with dreams of a Commonwealth Games place still burning brightly, the Mid-Kent College student is desperate to kill two birds with one stone in Canada.
"I can’t wait for Canada. It is going to be great and competitive for a medal and that is exactly what I’m looking for," said Green.
"Sometimes the races over here can be tough because the older guys are a little too good. I can beat the rest so it can be hard to get the right balance and find a race that will get the best out of me.
"I’m sure that will be the case at the worlds and if I get the right race and the right conditions, then I’m confident I can run a new British age record and run the Commonwealth Games qualifying time."
