The inaugural Maidstone Triathlon tempted competitors from across the county to take on three gruelling challenges on Sunday.

It began with a 400metre swim across Leybourne Lake followed by a 21km bike ride through Maidstone and the town centre.

The race came to a finish with a 5km run around Mote Park in front of admiring crowds.

As well as promoting Maidstone’s up-and-coming Olympic celebrations, the event was to raise awareness and funds for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
