A charity is more than £6,000 better off after a super-fit fund-raiser swam, cycled and ran 478 miles in just six days.

Matthew Willson, a former North Borough and Maidstone Grammar School pupil, completed the epic challenge in memory of his twin brother Jeremy, who died in 2006 from variant CJD.

Mr Willson swam two miles in the Serpentine in Hyde Park, London, cycled 450 miles from Marble Arch to Edinburgh, and then ran the Edinburgh Marathon.

He was raising money for the charity set up in his brother’s name, The Jeremy Willson Charitable Trust, which helps young athletes and adventurers achieve their ambitions.

Matthew said: “Being able to keep his name alive in a limited way through events like this and by helping others to achieve their dreams has been a big help for me and my family."
