Drivers have reported being stuck in country lanes after trying to avoid a road closure on a well-used route.
Traffic diverted from the closed B2163 Upper Street through Leeds is currently at a standstill as the narrow roads struggle to cope with the volume of vehicles in a third day of disruption.
The road is completely closed-off for work being carried out by UK Power Networks in Upper Street, which began on Monday and is scheduled to last until Friday of next week, August 6.
The company said: "We are sorry for any disruption caused. We will finish as soon as possible.
"We are sharing the road closure with another utility company to minimise the overall impact."
Motorists report Burberry Lane completely jammed, with traffic not moving.
There are similar problems in Boxley where Lidsing Road is closed between Harp Farm Road and Dunn Street while BT Openreach installs new telegraph poles.
That work is scheduled for today only.
