It has been signed by Hendog, a Hampshire-based street artist who keeps his identity anonymous.

He took to Instagram to exhibit his latest work titled Fishing The Mote.

The graffiti can be found on the wall of the former toilets in the park.

Social media users have praised the art.

Another added: “Well appreciated – many fishing folk respect this in the park.”

KentOnline approached Maidstone council and asked if the piece will remain.

A spokesperson said: “The council fully appreciates the artistic skills involved in creating artworks like the one that has appeared in Mote Park.

“There are imminent building works scheduled to take place on the toilet block which include a small extension that would unfortunately cover the artwork.

“The council is now currently looking at ways to incorporate the street art into the new external wall of the building.

“The council would always ask people to seek permission to put street art onto any buildings.”
