Barn gutted by fire

Firefighters are still at the scene of a barn fire.

Crews from Maidstone were called to the fire in Musket Lane, Hollingbourne, at around 8.15pm last night.

Around 100 tonnes of straw is thought to have gone up in flames. The barn also contained farm machinery.

Four engines were at the scene throughout the night, and two were still there this morning.

At 2pm, the fire was out but the site was still be watched. A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said they would reassess the situation at 4pm.

The spokesman added that it was not believed the fire had been started maliciously.
