A MAN drove up to a 12-year-old schoolgirl as she walked along a pavement in Newbury Avenue, Maidstone, and asked her to get into his car.

Police say the man opened the rear passenger door. The girl refused the invitation and walked away.

The man, driving a black car, has been seen several times in the area. He is black with braided hair and has what is desbribed as a gruff voice.

His car has blacked-out windows and twin exhausts. The incident with the girl occurred last Monday night.
