A motorbike caught being ridden on land without permission will now be crushed.
Neighbourhood officers were called to private land near Amsbury Woods in Coxheath last week after reports of an off-road bike being driven in an anti-social manner.
Sergeant Nigel Douglas seized the vehicle from its 18-year-old rider, and it will now be crushed. Vehicles can be seized if they are causing, or are likely to cause, harassment, alarm or annoyance to members of the public.
Sgt Douglas said: "The noise from the anti-social use of motorbikes ruins the quality of life of local residents, when they simply want to enjoy the summer weather in their gardens. It was a costly act for the owner of the bike, as he was not insured and the bike will now be crushed. I would warn those who are caught riding bikes illegally and anti-socially that they too could have their bike seized. These motorcyclists are also putting themselves and others in danger; in this case the rider was using the bike without a helmet, risking serious injury. As the summer months edge closer, we will continue to tackle anti social behaviour to improve the quality of life for local residents."
