Biker hurt in crash on Loose Road, Maidstone

A biker was flown to hospital with life threatening injuries following a collision with a van.

Loose Road in Maidstone was closed following the accident, which happened at around 5.50pm.

The motorcyclist riding a red and white Yamaha YZF R1 was overtaking a line of static traffic when it was involved in a collision with the silver Peugeot Partner van.

The crash happened at the road's junction with Payne's Lane.

The air ambulance landed at the nearby King George V Recreation Ground and flew the man to hospital.

Two fire engines and two ambulances were called to the scene.

Kent Police also attended.

A spokesman said: "The motorcyclist was seriously injured and has been taken to a London hospital."
