Biker suffers life-threatening injuries in collision

A 36-year-old man from Maidstone has suffered life-threatening injuries after his bike was in collision with a car.

The rider was thrown from his bike during the accident which happened on the A229, Upper Stone Street, Maidstone, at the junction with Woodville Road.

His bike was in collision with a silver Audi A4.

Police were called to the accident at 4.30pm on Sunday and the road was closed until 9pm, while an investigation into the collision was launched.

The Kent Air Ambulance landed in a nearby field and the man was flown to a hospital in Romford.

A police spokesman said the man had suffered: "serious injuries, deemed to be life-threatening."

Police said they believe the Audi driver was not seriously injured.
