Bill Williams has been named as Maidstone United's director of football.
Williams will do the job in addition to his existing role as the club's general manager.
He was asked to take up the position by Stones chairman Paul Bowden-Brown to provide a link between the new caretaker management team of Peter Nott and Tony Cornwell and the board of directors.
Mr Bowden-Brown said: "Bill is a vastly experienced football figure and will be there to assist Peter and Tony as and when required.
"This arrangement will also give me more time to concentrate on matters off the field. My main focus being options to bring the Stones home."
Williams said he was delighted to be involved and would always be available when needed.
He said: "There is a great deal to be done to make sure that we have the type of exciting and competitive team that everyone will be happy to support - but that is obviously down to Peter and Tony.
"My first aim is to secure a permanent training centre - a facility where we are able to train and treat any injured players."
