Motorist from Maidstone charged with impersonating a police officer

A motorist from Maidstone has been charged with impersonating a police officer following allegations that blue flashing lights were used to force another driver to pull over.

At around 6.30pm on Saturday, October 19, an altercation was reported involving two vehicles approaching the M2 from Blue Bell Hill.

Both vehicles then entered the motorway on the London- bound carriageway, where it is alleged one of drivers illuminated a blue light that was in the front of his vehicle. The victim pulled onto the hard shoulder but became suspicious that the other driver was not a police officer and called 999.

Later that evening, police arrested Christopher Dance, 33, of Redstart Avenue, Maidstone.

Dance was charged with impersonating a police officer and with a public order offence in relations to alleged threats and abusive language made to a police officer.

He was bailed to appear before Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on Friday, November 8.
