Peaches Geldof: Post mortem to be carried out after Sir Bob Geldof's daughter found dead at Wrotham home

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out on the body of Peaches Geldof tomorrow in an effort to find out how she died at her Kent home.

Police remain at the 25-year-old's house in Fairseat Lane, Wrotham, today and are treating her death as "sudden" and "unexplained" - but not suspicious.

A Home Office pathologist is expected to carry out tests at Darent Valley Hospital, in Dartford, before sending a report of his findings to the coroner.

North West Kent coroner Roger Hatch will then decide if an inquest should be opened and adjourned later this week.

It means Peaches' grieving family might have to wait several days before discovering exactly how she died.

The socialite was found dead at her home yesterday afternoon and reports claim no drugs or suicide note were found by police.

Four police vehicles remained at her house this afternoon, with forensic officers taking photographs - including of garden and shed.

Peaches' father Sir Bob Geldof - who lives in Davington, near Faversham - said he is "beyond pain" and her older sister Fifi paid tribute to her today with a touching photo of them as children.

Her death came just hours after Peaches paid tribute to her mother Paula Yates, whose fatal heroin overdose 14 years ago aged 41 had dominated her life.

Peaches, who was 11 when her mother died, uploaded a touching picture of the pair together on her Instagram account with the simple message: "Me and my mum".

Hours later, police found the body of the mother-of-two after being called to "concern for the welfare of a woman".

Peaches - who had worked as a DJ, model and television personality - had previously admitted drug use as a teenager, but said in 2009 she was "sober now".

Peaches grew up in Faversham and married her second husband Tom Cohen at the St Mary Magdalene and St Lawrence Church in Davington in 2012.

She is believed to have bought the five-bedroom Wrotham house, with two-acre garden, for £975,000 in October last year.

Celebrity photographer Brian Aris, from Throwley, near Faversham, posted a moving tribute on his Facebook page.

Mr Aris, who photographed Peaches' wedding for Hello magazine, said: "Life can be wonderful and exciting, but also brutally cruel.

"So it proved last night when the devastating news broke of the death of Peaches Geldof."

He added: "Peaches was a true chip off the Bob and Paula block. Beautiful of course but also sassy, forever challenging, clever, great fun and a wonderful mother to her two sons.

"It's so tragic to lose Peaches as it was to part with her mother Paula 14 years ago. My heart goes out to Thomas and Bob and all the family as they try to understand and face their loss.

"That loss is incomprehensible and their pain is shared by so many of us who knew Peaches throughout her life."

Peaches' older sister Fifi Trixibelle Geldof, 31, has also paid her own tribute to her "beautiful baby sister".

She posted a photograph on Instagram of the two of them as children, and an emotional message: "My beautiful baby sister... Gone but never forgotten. I love you, Peaches x"

Among those mourning her death are workers at Borough Green Taxis, which Peaches used several times a week - often to go to a play centre in Tonbridge with her children.

She was such a regular customer that her mobile phone number was written on a piece of paper on the office wall.

Office controller Susan McPhee said: "She and her and husband and her children came in quite often. She gave us her number and we'd pick her up and take her wherever she wanted to go.

"She was really nice - just a normal down-to-earth girl. There were no airs and graces about her, she was just a normal fun-loving person.

"She was just like one of us. You wouldn't think she was a celebrity or high-profile.

"I was shocked and saddened when I heard the news. I didn't expect it to happen to her. I feel very upset for her children too."

Prayers will be held at St George's Church in Wrotham on Sunday after Peaches' death.

The Reverend Canon Brenda Hurd, of Borough Green Road, Wrotham, said: "Although I didn't know her, although we never saw her in church or in the village, she's still a member of our community.

"And already many are saying prayers for her and we shall do on Sunday.

"Our prayers and condolences go with the family and will do so for the coming weeks."

Referring to the affect her death has had on the village, she added: "I think it does have an impact on the village. We are quite a good community and so it will affect us in a big way.

"During this last year, we have had several young people who have died and I know it affects everyone.

"It brings home your mortality and you know that every day must be lived as it it's your last - and make the most of it."

Boomtown Rats singer and Live Aid hero Sir Bob led the tributes to model and journalist Peaches, who married singer Tom Cohen in Kent in 2012. The pair had two children, Astala and Phaedra, under the age of two.

A statement released by Sir Bob said: "Peaches has died. We are beyond pain.

"She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us.

"Writing 'was' destroys me afresh. What a beautiful child.

"How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable? We loved her and will cherish her forever.

"How sad that sentence is. Tom and her sons Astala and Phaedra will always belong in our family, fractured so often, but never broken. Bob, Jeanne, Fifi, Pixie and Tiger Geldof."

Peaches' husband Tom said: "My beloved wife Peaches was adored by myself and her two sons Astala and Phaedra and I shall bring them up with their mother in their hearts everyday.

"We shall love her forever. Thomas Astala and Phaedra Geldof-Cohen"

Neighbours reacted in sadness and shock at the death of a high-profile celebrity on their doorstep.

One neighbour, who did not want to be named, said she saw Peaches last week in the local shop.

She said: "She looked fit and healthy, she was in the local convenience store with the kids.

"You don't expect it from a neighbour. Especially one so high profile.

"She was continuously on twitter talking about her kids, but she kept herself to herself."

Ben Forest, 17, whose father owns the Vigo Inn, said: "I feel really upset about what has happened - she's local, she's only young and it's just a shame.

"It's a local pub, she's come in here. It's a great shame. All I can say is I send best wishes to her children.

"She had a life ahead of her, it's just gone. It's such a shame to hear that.

"The village must be very upset and we've just got to look up and keep live music up for her.

"It's a big shock as she lived around the corner. Her father was a success. I'm really sorry to hear that.

"We'll probably be expecting a lot of police cars and people over the next few days.

"We will do an event for her and we will have live music and events all day. We'll make an event for this because it's such a tragic loss."

In an interview with Elle magazine last year, Peaches told how difficult it was to come to terms with her mother's death.

"I remember the day my mother died, and it's still hard to talk about it," she said. "I just blocked it out.

"I went to school the next day because my father's mentality was 'keep calm and carry on'.

"So we all went to school and tried to act as if nothing had happened. But it had happened. I didn't grieve. I didn't cry at her funeral.

"I couldn't express anything because I was just numb to it all. I didn't start grieving for my mother properly until I was maybe 16."
