A 29-year-old man accused of murder after a body was found next to a railway line today admitted preventing burial of the corpse.

Toby Edwards, of Lesley Place, Maidstone, denied killing Carl Biddis, 36, of Maidstone. He will stand trial on December 5. It is expected to last up to two weeks.

Edwards was arrested after the victim’s body was discovered at Buckland Hill in Maidstone on January 30.

Edwards, wearing a dark tracksuit top, appeared via a TV link to Maidstone Crown Court from Elmley Prison, Sheppey, where he has been remanded in custody.

He will return on May 27 for a further hearing.
