A body has been found in the search for a missing man.

Kent Police were looking for Maidstone man Steve White who was last seen in the Northumberland Road area of Shepway at around 11am on Thursday, January 13.

Now, the force has confirmed the body of a 57-year-old man was found near Downswood, Maidstone, during overnight searches on Monday, January 17.

A police spokesman said: "Formal identification has not yet taken place, however, the family of a 57-year-old man who was reported missing on Friday, January 14, have been informed.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner."
