Boyzone star Shane Lynch made a surprise visit to the dance troupe at Mandy Ellen’s School of Dance studios in Earl Street, Maidstone, on Wednesday.

He came to see them rehearse routines that they hope will see them compete in the Britain's Got Talent show on television later this year.

After watching the girls perform some routines, he said: “Collectively they’re very good at what they do. They’ve got a very good chance because they keep it tight and keep it clean - the audience will appreciate that.

“They’ve got a short rehearsal time but they’re good and can put some good routines together.

“They don’t need my advice but it’s good to give support.”

Group leader Mandy Ellen said: “It’s very exciting - they made a few more mistakes than normal.

“It’s good boost to have someone like him support us.”

Shane Lynch was due to appear with the girls at the Ramada Hotel, in Hollingbourne, on Saturday but could not make it, which is why he made today's visit.
