The winners of a walk to school design contest promoted by Brands Hatch have been chosen with Medway children scooping all the prizes.
The competition challenged primary school children to create a design which is to be printed on the hemlets of the A1 Team GBR pit crew who will support motorsport ace Robbie Kerr when he races at Brands Hatch over the weekend of 2/3/4 May. The initiative is part of a promotion organised by the walk to school charity to make the walk to school cool.
Robbie Kerr has joined Brands Hatch in helping to trumpet the health and road safety benefits of children walking to school with their families or on KM Walking Buses.
Aidan Mcdonagh, 10, of St William of Perth school, Rochester won the contest with a design Robbbie Kerr described as: "Definitely representing Britishness as well as being bold, fast and exciting!"
Mason Grange, seven, of Twydall Infants school, Gilllingham, came second with Jordan Shand, 11, Riverside Primary, Rainham, third and Kerry Boughton, 11, of St Margarets Junior School, Rainham, fourth.
As well as having their designs sported by the pit crew on race day the families win tickets to the event and will meet Robbie Kerr. Aiden and his family will win a VIP package for the day.
Champion Robbie believes the Walking Bus can teach pupils valuable lessons about road safety as well being great for their health, giving them a flying start in life.
He said: "On behalf of A1 Team Great Britain, I'm delighted to show support for the Kent Walking Bus. It's an innovative scheme that not only promotes important road safety skills and exercise, but also offers an environmentally friendly alternative to the school run.
The A1GP World Cup of Motorsport will be at Brands Hatch on the 2/3/4 May for the finale of the season. A1 Team GBRs Robbie Kerr won there last year and he'll be aiming for another home victory.
