Motorists heading through Teston could face two weeks of disruption as work begins to repair a bridge tomorrow.
Teston Lane is set to shut between Tonbridge Road and Lower Road from 8am on Monday.
Kent County Council will be carrying out reconstruction to a damaged parapet on Teston bridge.
The damage was caused when a car hit the bridge head on on December 13.
KCC Highways has predicted repair work could take up to two weeks.
During this time, the alternative route is via the B2110 Lower Road, Smiths Hill, Yalding Hill, High Street, Hampstead Lane, Maidstone Road, Bow Road and onto A26 Tonbridge Road.
The bridge has been struck once before, in August 2017, leading to repair work.
At the time, the bridge's repair was delayed after Kent County Council needed to find special, historically correct bricks.
This time KCC does not have the same requirements.
A spokesperson from KCC said: "All works need to be undertaken in accordance with Historic England approved specification.
"Any displaced stones will need to be recovered from the river."
