A FATHER of two young children has died in an accident at the Fremlin Walk development in Maidstone which is under construction.
Police have so far released no details of the incident in which Justin Taylor, a 29-year-old machine driver from Barming, near Maidstone, died. The tragedy happened on Friday June 20.
Mr Taylor's father-in-law, Donald Gauntlett, described him as a wonderful father and a good man. Mr Gauntlett was the first person to learn of the tragedy involving his son-in-law.
He said: "Nobody wants to tell their daughter that sort of news. I knew it would devastate her."
The dead man lived with his wife Sarahjane 27, and their two children Arran, 12, who attends Aylesford School in Teapot Lane, and Kian, aged two.
Mr Gauntlett said: "Arran is Sarahjane's from a previous relationship but Justin took him on, loved him and treated him as his own always."
The Fremlin site has remained closed since the incident as part of an ongoing investigation by the Health and Safety Executive and Maidstone and Malling Police.
A spokeswoman for Maidstone and Malling Police said: "We are still looking into the incident. Two people were arrested following the incident and have been released on bail pending further investigation."
Miller Construction, contractors for the Fremlin site, said in a statement: "I can confirm that a full investigation is currently being conducted. Until such a time as this investigation is completed we are not in a position to comment further."
Mr Taylor's funeral is to take place in Vinters Park Crematorium , Maidstone, on Friday, July 4.
