A suspected burglar has been charged after a series of break-ins around Maidstone town centre.

Seven different restaurants and shops were targeted across 11 days between May and June.

Charles Traverso, 42, has been charged in relation to three burglaries.

Mr Traverso, of Cross Street, Maidstone, has been charged with a restaurant burglary in Ashford Road on May 27, as well as burglaries of a shop and restaurant on Week Street on May 26 and June 1 respectively.

He was arrested in St Faith's Street at 12.15am on Friday and appeared at Medway Magistrates Court on Saturday.

Police continue to investigate all seven break-ins.
