Maidstone Bus Forum to hold second meeting

The newly formed West Maidstone Bus Forum will hold its second meeting next week.

There was a strong attendance at the inaugural meeting in June, with people keen to discuss the problems with public transport in the area and to put forward their solutions.

The next meeting is on Monday starting at 6.30pm at the Thomas Whyatt pub in London Road, Maidstone.

Fran Smith, co-chair of the group, said: "The mood at the first meeting was very constructive and we were grateful to representatives from Arriva and Nu Venture for their time and input.”

Her co-chair James Willis said: "Everyone is welcome to come and join us. At the last meeting a lot of good issues, small and large, and even the dreaded the sink-hole came up. We are already having some quick wins.

"There is no magic wand, but I urge bus users to get involved together. We can push for better."

The subjects on the agenda include better bus services to Maidstone East station, an update on Park and Ride, initiatives to get children on buses, and twilight fares.
