A cake baking competition to raise money for Macmillan will take place this Friday.
The event, organised by Voluntary Action Maidstone, will take place at the Maidstone Community Centre in Marsham Street.
Entrants of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to submit their cakes, which will be assessed by a panel of judges.
These include professional baker Britt Whyatt and Ben Gosden, head chef of the community centre.
Charlotte Osborn-Forde, CEO of VAM, will also be on the panel and a winner will be chosen with the cake that not only meets the judge’s standards in terms of taste, but also presentation and appearance too.
Jane Pantony, project coordinator at Macmillan Volunteer Service West Kent, said: “The Great VAM Cake Off will be a great way for people to come together for a good cause.
“Even though we’re having the competition, it’s all very lighthearted and we welcome experts and novices alike’.
“You don’t even have to be a baker yourself, if you want to come along for a cake and a cup of tea that is fine too.”
The event starts at 10.30am and participants are asked to bring along £3 on the day.
If you would like to confirm your entry into the competition, please phone 01622 677337 or email christopher.tucker@vam-online.org.
All money raised from the competition goes to Macmillan Cancer Support.
