Firefighters were scrambled to a Maidstone home after smoke was seen coming from the roof.

A small fire started when a candle burned down onto a cabinet in a bedroom, setting it alight.

The blaze was quickly put out by the resident, who threw a glass of water over it.

But smoke seen coming from the house led to someone calling the fire service.

Two engines attended the scene, in Mote Road, this morning at 9.30am.

They were there for 10 minutes.
