More than 100 cannabis plants will be destroyed after officers shut down a factory in Maidstone this morning.

Following a tip-off from a member of the public, officers attended a residential address in Well Road, Maidstone, where some 120 plants were discovered.

The factory will now be dismantled and all of the equipment will be destroyed.

DC Debbie Prescott from Kent Police said: "This result shows the importance of the support we receive from members of the public in alerting us to suspicious behaviour or smells.

"Every time we close down a cannabis farm we disrupt illegal activity, and deprive criminals of the opportunity to make money from their crimes. We will continue to proactively target drug cultivations to restrict and disrupt the supply of controlled substances across Maidstone."

Police are investigating, to find out who was responsible for setting the factory up.
