An historic town landmark has been given a 21st century overhaul and is to return home next week.
Maidstone’s Russian cannon, which was presented to the town in 1858 as a tribute to Maidstone men killed in the Crimean conflict, has been in Bristol undergoing repairs and re-coating, at a cost of £8,000, for the last eight weeks. Its plinth has also been repaired, costing £4,000.
It is due to come back to its High Street home on Wednesday
