Firefighters had to turn their hoses on their own property today.
A service vehicle caught alight near Maidstone Fire Station on Loose Road just after 8am.
Rush-hour motorists would have seen the red vehicle alight, with one passer-by saying the car had been totally destroyed by the flames.
A fire service spokeswoman said: "A service vehicle caught fire on Loose Road, Maidstone at 8.22am today.
"One fire engine attended and crews used a hose reel jet to put the fire out.
"There were no injuries and the cause is not yet known."
The fire was out by 8.35am.
