This is the moment just after a car crashed through glass and ended up inside Maidstone Hospital.

The Kia Picanto smashed into Kent Oncology Centre, where cancer patients receive chemotherapy, radiotherapy and other treatment, leaving shards of glass scattered all over the floor.

Miraculously everyone involved is believed to have escaped serious injury.

Police confirmed they were called to the hospital at 1.20pm on Wednesday, December 28 after the car "collided with doors at an entrance to Maidstone Hospital".

Officers attended but found there were no serious injuries.

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, which manages the hospital, said no one was hurt but the driver was taken to A&E as a precaution.

A trust spokesman said no services were affected but patients must use an alternative entrance until the damage is repaired.

He said: "The Kent Oncology Centre front entrance was damaged on Wednesday when a car collided with the window and hit a wall. The entrance area is currently boarded up.

"Staff, patients and visitors wishing to access Kent Oncology Centre for the foreseeable future are being asked to use the main entrance at Maidstone Hospital.

"The trust’s estates and facilities team are assessing the damage and repairs will be carried out as soon as possible."
