Emergency services called to South Park Road in Maidstone after car smashes into telegraph pole

A car hit a telegraph pole in a crash on a residential street so hard that it snapped in half.

Neighbours in South Park Road, Maidstone, have reported hearing a “loud bang” at around 11.30pm yesterday.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash which involved a silver car.

The front of the vehicle was badly damaged and the wooden post was snapped in half.

Elliott Millwall was lying in bed when he heard the commotion outside.

“I was lying in bed when I heard a loud bang. I looked out my window and saw smoke rising up,” he said.

“I saw one guy who looked like he was running from the crash.

“I jumped out of bed to be nosey and went to have a look and that’s when I saw the damaged car and the snapped telegraph pole.”
