THE Mazda6 Sport4 AWD, which completes the Mazda6 line-up, is ideally suited to a variety of lifestyles with its full-time four-wheel drive and Activematic transmission.
On sale for £19,995 with an insurance group of 13E, it has Mazda’s smooth and responsive 2.3-litre MZ-R engine coupled to the Activematic transmission.
The Mazda6 range has already been acclaimed for its outstanding driving dynamics, quality finish and stunning good looks. But some customers want even more comfort, more traction and more active safety features. It is for these drivers that Mazda developed the Sport AWD.
Engine output to all four wheels provides optimal traction on wet, slick roads and enhances both safety and driving enjoyment. An electronic double de-clutch system distributes power output between the front and rear axles according to driving behaviour and surface characteristics.
Mazda6’s new five-speed “Activematic” offers the choice of either automatic or semi-automatic mode.
A special sensor constantly monitors the roll angle of the vehicle and is integrated into the electronics of the transmission system to provide additional driving comfort.
The Mazda Sport AWD represents over £3,000 of extras on a car that is priced just £2,000 over the Mazda6 TS Estate Auto.
The higher specification also includes Activematic transmission, permanent four-wheel drive and auto levelling suspension.
The interior has been designed in typical Mazda6 style. The dimensions of passenger and luggage compartment are more generous than its sporty appearance indicates. There is also a non-expanded boot capacity of 490 litres. Once the rear seats are folded down a space of 1,694 litres is available.
No compromises were made when it came to safety.
An extremely rigid safety cell has an ingenious system for the distribution and absorption of collision energy.
Passive safety features include dual-stage front airbags, front side airbags and curtain airbags which protect passengers in the front and back of the vehicle against injuries in side impact collisions.
Active safety features are optimised by a modern, four-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake distribution (EBD), brake assistance (EBA), dynamic stability control (DSC) and automatic ride-height control.
