Caravan fire in Unicumes Lane, Maidstone

A caravan has been completely destroyed in a fire which is being treated as suspicious.

The blaze in Unicumes Lane, Maidstone was first reported to fire crews at 10.42am yesterday.

Two fire engines attended and they spent nearly four hours tackling the flames.

No one was injured but the caravan was completely destroyed, leaving nothing but a pile of ash and its metal frame.

Police were called at 11.12 am and after fire crews had extinguished the flame, duty of care was passed to the officers.

A police spokesman said: “The fire is being treated as suspicious and an investigation is underway.

“Anyone with information should call the appeal line on 01622 604100, quoting reference 3-0453.”
