Leeds castle welcomes first newborn in bird of prey centre

Staff at a Maidstone castle are bringing out the baby blue for their first newborn bird of prey.

Groot the burrowing owl was revealed on Leeds Castle's social media as the first animal born in its bird of prey centre.

The post states: "Meet Groot, our 8-day old baby Burrowing Owl.

"He is the first bird of prey to be bred at Leeds Castle and is currently being hand-reared by our falconry team."

The castle's Bird of Prey Centre houses a range of raptors from kestrels to a Russian Steppe Eagle.

Normally, they are on public display each day weather permitting.
