Firefighters were called to Lamkin Way, Maidstone, at 6.50 last night after a kitchen caught fire.

The house-holder was able to evacute the building before crews arrived. They tackled the blaze using breathing apparatus and then used a positive pressure ventilation fan to drive smoke and fumes out of the building.

There are no reports of any injuries and the cause of the fire has not been established.

Crews were able to leave the scene at 7.30pm
