Violence which broke out before a man's death was captured on CCTV cameras, a court heard today.
Prosecutor Martin Yale said there was 18 seconds of footage that “showed the incident itself”.
Kevin Roach is accused of murdering 37-year-old Wesley Adyinka, who died from stab wounds in Knightrider Street in Maidstone in the early hours of Sunday, February 10.
He’s also accused of wounding Amanda Francis with intent to do grievous bodily harm during the same incident outside Chaucer House.
The 39-year-old, of Peace Close, South Norwood, south east London, was not asked to enter pleas when he appeared at Maidstone Crown Court by TV link with Elmley Prison.
Roach will be produced at court on March 15 to enter pleas. A provisional trial date was set for August 12.
He complained about not being able to hear properly and Judge Philip Statman said: “I am not prepared to have a situation in a case like this where the defendant can’t hear what is being said.
"It makes a mockery of the system.”
Roach did not make a bail application and was remanded in custody.
