A host of celebrities are taking to the football pitch to raise funds for a Kent-based sports charity which improves the lives of homeless and vulnerable youngsters.
Former Premier League footballer Jamie O’Hara, singer James Arthur and EastEnders' actors Matt Lapinskas, who played Anthony Moon, and Aaron Sidwell, who played Steven Beale, will be at Maidstone United FC's Gallagher Stadium, in Maidstone, on Friday, December 17 supporting the Street Soccer Foundation.
They will be joined by Calum Best, son of footballing legend George, Joe Sealey, the son of ex-Manchester United keeper Les, Tubes from TV show Soccer AM, as well as ex-The Only Way Is Essex cast members James Argent and Dan Osbourne, and Luke Trotman and Jake Cornish who found fame on Love Island.
The Street Soccer Foundation was formed in 2015 and, by using the power of football, it has helped communities and improved the lives of vulnerable young people.
Founder and CEO of the foundation, Keith Mabbutt, said: “The aim of our foundation is to use football as a catalyst to help improve lives by educating, motivating and supporting homeless and vulnerable young people.
“Money raised from this event will be vital in our continued endeavours throughout the country.”
Metro Bank will be the shirt sponsor for the game.
“As a community bank, we love to support local charities that will make a difference in the lives of Maidstone residents,” said Kerri Miller, local director at Maidstone’s Metro Bank in Week Street.
“We are proud to be sponsors of this great event and will be encouraging our colleagues and customers to come along and cheer the celebrities on.”
Doors open at 6pm and kick-off is at 7.30pm, with the match having been organised by Sellebrity Soccer.
Children will also get the opportunity to head on to the pitch at half-time to take part in a penalty shoot-out against Santa Claus himself.
Food and drinks will be available at the Gallagher Stadium and there will be a raffle, as well as the opportunity to meet the celebrities.
It's hoped about 500 people will attend.
Online tickets cost £8.50 for adults, £3.50 for under-16s and £40 for VIPs.
