TUNBRIDGE Wells chairman Norman Sales expressed his regret at the resignation of the club’s entire management staff.

Boss Kevin Metcalf quit Culverden Stadium after first team coaches Martin Telford and Dave Rice resigned while Metcalf was on holiday.

Sales said: "There was no falling out and no animosity at all. It was all done by mutual consent. I think they just wanted a change and to move on to better things and hopefully they will."

Telford was the first to leave after being refused a temporary break to allow him to spend more time in his native Scotland after a serious illness in the family.

Rice soon followed his colleague through the exit door before Metcalf met with the club and also decided to go.

The trio leave the club in a healthy fifth place in the Kent League Premier Division and still in the hunt for promotion.

Reserve team managers Mike D’Arcy and Alan Burns will take charge for the visit of Deal Town, but Sales said the search for a long-term replacement is ongoing.

Sales added: "We’ve had around five applications so far but there is still time for others to put their name forward. Mike and Alan are in the frame and we’ll draw it down to the last three to make our decision."
