Chance to vent parking anger

Householders will have the chance to raise concerns about parking in their area directly with county council members when KCC hosts a Local Board meeting at Oakwood Park, Maidstone.

Many people living nearby have been angered by students and visitors to Oakwood Park parking in their streets since tougher restrictions were introduced on the campus last year.

Oakwood Park is home to three schools, a sports centre, college and university college, as well as the Oakwood House Conference Centre.

Board chairman Cllr Paulina Stockell (Con) said: “This is an important issue for people living around the campus and I think it will be beneficial to bring residents and local representatives together to discuss the problems and consider solutions.

“The Oakwood Park campus is good for Maidstone, but there’s a need to ensure it is a considerate neighbour and that students are aware of all public and sustainable transport options open to them.”

The meeting on Wednesday will be in the John Wigan Room at Oakwood House, starting at 7pm.
