Two community-spirited residents are hoping to set their neighbourhood aglow once more with a spectacular lights display for charity.
Lighting Up Allington will be delivering their signature show for the Christmas period, with the big switch-on tonight.
From 6.30pm there will be a show every half hour between 5pm and 8.30pm until New Year’s Day.
Run by Stevie Adams and John Walker, Lighting Up Allington is run entirely from the couple’s Castle Road house, and all money raised from contributions goes to the Heart of Kent Hospice.
The couple were inspired to embark on this charitable venture by Mr Walker’s godmother, Barbara Burt.
Mrs Burt spent a long time at the Aylesford hospice towards the end of her life, and her 41-year-old godson wanted to give something back.
Mr Adams, 31, said: “After the positive reception we got last year, we can’t wait to see what people think of this year’s show.
"We’ve already had people stopping by for a chat whilst we’re putting the decorations out and they all seem to be just as excited.”
The couple have 150 different switches and 16,000 lights to contend with, but Mr Adams says it’s all worth it.
“Each song takes me on average about 15 hours to sequence, although some of the more tricky ones take a lot longer.
“But one of the best things about doing this is seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces while they’re watching the lights,” he said.
