A former Chelsea children's football coach has gone on trial charged with four counts of raping a schoolgirl.

Shane Hughes, from Lenham, is said to have carried out the offences in 2011 at the club's training headquarters in Cobham, Surrey.

The 31-year-old allegedly abused the girl, who was aged under 13, over a four month period.

He denies the charges.

Yesterday a jury was sworn in at Kingston Crown Court in Greater London for the trial.

The hearing continues.
