The baby Jesus may have been the star of the show but a camel named Joseph did his best to steal the limelight.
More than 1,000 people gathered on the Green at Horsmonden to watch a cast of more than 50 re-enact the Nativity, complete with a camel, donkey, garrison of Roman soldiers and sheep. The Russian camel Joseph had come from Derbyshire for the production, which even included a star of Bethlehem – an inflatable one, provided by a local events company, and carols were sung by St Margaret’s Primary School. There are plans to hold the event again next year.
