A football club whose pavilion was immersed in floodwaters gas been shortlisted to receive a refit.
Yalding and Laddingford Football Club needs local people’s votes to be in with a chance of winning the talkSPORT prize with Wickes.
The club’s pavilion was deluged with 4ft of water back in December 2013 and left severely damaged.
Club members have struggled for the past 15 months to make it usable.
“At the moment we are struggling to accommodate our five sides but next season we wish to run three more sides. By doing this refurbishment we will be able to provide weekly activity for another 50 children, so are thrilled to have got to this stage in the competition,” said Steve Faulkner, club secretary.
“We hope that anyone with time to spare will show their support for the club so that we can get even more young people from the area involved with our work.”
The work would be carried out by Wickes with a social initiative called VIY (Volunteer It Yourself) which helps young people between 14 and 24 learn trade and building skills to fix community buildings.
The vote closes on Sunday at midnight. Visit www.talksport.com/viy
