A town centre shopping complex is set to welcome a new coffee shop.

Muffin Break will open its doors at The Mall in Maidstone next Thursday with a competition for one lucky winner to win free 12 free muffins per month for a year.

The company is also offering a lucky dip for the first 25 customers for a free muffin, coffee, or toasty.

Model and actress Nancy Reeves is set to open the shop at 10am while company mascot Muffin Man greets customers and gives balloons to children.

The first Muffin Break café in the UK opened its doors in 2001 and has since acquired 60 franchises nationwide including two in Kent in Ashford and Medway.

The new shop will bring the total number of eateries at The Mall Maidstone to 11.

Suzie Brindle, The Mall marketing manager, said: "We’ve welcomed a lot of fantastic new brands in the last few months, including Krispy Kreme.

"Adding Muffin Break to our list of retailers is another proof of our commitment to bringing a diverse range of food outlets to our clients.
