Thirteen-year-old Asha Parkinson has been awarded a distinction in her London College of Music Diploma in jazz sax.
The QCF level 4 Award is considered to be above A-levels. It is the standard expected of undergraduates at the end of their first year at University. The qualfication enables Weald of Kent Grammar School pupil Asha to put the letters DipLCM after her name.
But Asha said: "It’s great to have the diploma, but what I really want to do is help other people with my music."
She will be fronting a line-up of jazz and folk musicians at a charity event she’s organising in aid of Syrian children and their families.
The concert takes place on Saturday, May 25, from 4 to 6pm at St Saviour’s Church in Dry Hill Park Crescent, Tonbridge.
