Construction has started on a town centre Lidl.
The discount supermarket is set to open later this year next to DIY store Wickes, in St Peter's Street, Maidstone.
The branch was originally located in the Broadway Shopping centre, just 528 yards down the road.
Now the supermarket is sharing a site with DIY company Wickes and will be opening this winter.
Construction can be heard from inside the building, a new sign has gone up and there are banners saying that the store will be coming soon.
Maidstone council's planning committee approved an application that would allow both companies to share the existing large Wickes warehouse building back in June 2021.
The building will remain as it is – except from a few internal alterations and a new facade.
The transfer will allow the retailer to increase its range as well as facilitating deliveries, which would all be on one level.
Lidl is the third store to move out of the Broadway Shopping centre – with Matalan re-locating to The Mall in September 2020 and Tru Gym permanently closing in May this year.
A spokeswoman for the supermarket said: "We are delighted to confirm that construction of our new Lidl store on St Peter's Street, Maidstone, is well underway with the store due to open this Winter.
"Once opened, the new store will help to provide local residents in and around Maidstone with an even greater selection of Lidl’s high quality and affordable produce."
