More businesses could soon be heading for Maidstone after the opening of a new industrial warehouse park.
Aylesford Business Park adjacent to the M20 in the north west of Maidstone has been constructed by Goya Developments and comprises seven units designed to provide space for light industrial and logistics warehousing.
Andy Stothard from Goya Developments said: “We see Maidstone as a key strategic location within Kent, which is well placed to service demand from local and national and European businesses. It was the ideal location to develop Aylesford Business Park.”
Built to high energy efficiency standards, all the units offer cutting edge energy saving technologies which should enable a reduction of carbon emissions by 35% compared with units built to the standard building regulations.
In addition, the units have a BREEAM rating of ‘very good’ - BREEAM is an industry-accepted assessment rating of sustainability measures.
The development include motion-sensitive lighting, electric car charging points and photovoltaic panels.
The units range in size from 3,757 sq ft to 41,320 sq ft.
The first unit has already been let to wood-finishing manufacturer Morrells Wood Finishes.
The remaining six are now on the market as leasehold properties.
John Foster, Maidstone council's head of regeneration and economic development, said: “This investment demonstrates the demand for high-quality, affordable warehousing solutions within the borough.
“As the county town of Kent, Maidstone is growing, and more capacity is needed for the many businesses looking to relocate or expand operations in the borough.
"The new units provide easy access to London and the continent via the M20 and the scheme represents a positive boost to the local economy outside of the town centre.”
