HOUSING bosses in Maidstone have vowed to get tough with anti-social tenants.
The Maidstone Housing Trust has obtained two court injunctions to curb the anti-social behaviour of two tenants one living in the town centre and the other on the Parkwood estate.
A district judge at Maidstone County Court approved the injunctions. One tenant had a history of storing rubbish in her flat and then setting fire to it. She had already received a police caution following a third fire.
The injunction, granted on July 20, states she must not store rubbish in the flat or start fires.
The second case, heard the following day, involved a teenager who, together with visitors to the flat, had been creating constant noise, swearing and shouting abuse at neighbours.
Maidstone Housing Trust's anti-behaviour officer Sue Howe said: "These two cases show that the Trust is determined to protect the living conditions of all its tenants, the vast majority of whom are law abiding."
Court action was often the "last resort". Intervention was made as early as possible to deal with tenants whose behaviour was unacceptable.
It is understood the Parkwood tenant is appealing against the injunction and the case will be heard in September when the trust will be seeking a possession order against the tenant.
