A home believed to have been used as a "crack house" has been closed by police.

Maidstone magistrates granted the order to close the Willington Street flat.

The flat was raided by police last Wednesday as part of Operation Morse, which is targeting the supply of class A drugs to the County Town.

The court heard evidence from residents, who described being kept awake until 5.30am every morning because of comings and goings to the property.

The court heard that the suspected drugs activity was happening in the absence of the flat's tenant, Sarah Seymour, who was sent to prison in February 2008. Her conviction was not drugs related.

Bench chairman Tony Broadrick said: “During her absence we are satisfied that the premises was used regularly for the supply of class A drugs.”

He ordered the closure of the premises for three months.
