Flytippers have been stopped in their tracks after a joint operation between police and a council.

Kent Police's Rural Task Force went out on patrol with Maidstone Borough Council's Waste Crime Team on Wednesday, July 24.

Two vehicles were seized.

One van was stopped in a known fly tipping hotspot along Burberry Lane after the driver was found carrying waste without a waste carries licence.

Another van was stopped in the Park Wood area, having been spotted fly tipping on July 14.

Jamie Duffy, Maidstone Borough Council waste crime manager said: "This was a really successful joint police operation. The fly tipper is going to be put forward to our legal team for prosecution and the illegal waste carrier will be issued with a £300 Fixed Penalty Notice and have to pay to claim his vehicle back.

"Maidstone Borough Council’s Waste Crime Team will continue to take a hard-line approach against fly tippers and illegal waste carriers."
