Police motorcyclists seized four vehicles in one weekend during a crackdown on nuisance off-road vehicles.

Following reports from the public, officers from the police motorcycle unit were out in force in Burham and West Malling on Sunday.

In Burham, six motorcyclists were issued with orders telling them if they continued to ride in an anti social way they could be taken away.

In Kings Hill, a 17-year-old boy was stopped in the Blaise Farm Quarry area and charged with taking a vehicle without consent; possession of a Class B substance; driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance. He was bailed to Maidstone Youth Court on Monday, June 25.

Two Honda motorbikes, thought to have been stolen, were also found in woodland, and a Ford Transit van, which may have been used to transport the bikes, was also seized.

PC Steven Turner from the unit said: "We use off-road motorcycles ourselves, and this allows us to travel across rough terrain quickly and easily. This operation saw us recover a motorcycle that had been reported stolen and also disrupt those who use off-road vehicles in a way that causes annoyance to local residents.

"We will continue these operations throughout the summer and I would emphasise to people who use off-road vehicles in an anti-social manner and cause damage and annoyance that they risk having their vehicle seized, and potentially crushed."
